6 and a half hours.....

to go till I am on vacation!!!! I am so excited. FH and I are heading out to my parents cabin tonight after work and we are staying there until Sunday!! It will be so relaxing. I brought a bunch of books to read and I plan on laying out on the deck suntanning and reading. The weather is supposed to be beautiful this week so hopefully I can get a bit of a tan so my legs are so ghostly white!

We have a wedding to go to for FH's cousin on Saturday but they are just doing an afternoon ceremony so we will just head into Edmonton for the afternoon. I think I will make a trip to bath and body works for some new hand soaps though!! Can't totally avoid my shopping addiction!!!!

This weekend I am going to make it my mission to take some pictures that I can post up here. I don't have anything saved in photo bucket to use on here and now that my blog looks so pretty I feel like I need to add some pics to it. I bet you guys would all love to see pics instead of only reading what I have written!!

Well I better get back to work. I hope everyone has a great Canada day!!

Check out the new template!!!

I got a new template for my blog today and I love it!! It makes me way more excited about blogging.

Hope you all like it too!!!!!

Trying again.....

So my last post was kind of a downer. Sorry about that. I know that's not what this blog is supposed to be about but I was having a really awful day. The days following that have been much, much better!!!!

My bridesmaids threw me a totally awesome shower this past weekend. I had so much fun!! They had such nice decorations and they bought Gerber daisies cuz that's what I am having for my flowers. I got some really nice gifts and some great advice!!

FH's family all came to visit last weekend as well. It was a lot of fun but it was a busy house!! There were 6 of us in our house and there really isn't enough room for 6 people!! We had fun though. Friday night we all went to Cowboys to watch a friend of FSIL's sing. I haven't been to Cowboys in years and I had fun till the singing competition was over. Then the bar started to get busy with the young kids so we left! FSIL and FBIL stayed with their friend and came home later.

Saturday morning we just relaxed and then the guys went shopping and the girls went to the shower. The guys planned to cook dinner that night and they made a fantastic meal! Rotisserie chicken, prawns and scallops. It was delicious!!!! I was pretty exhausted once we finished dinner and cleaned up so I relaxed for a bit and then went to bed.

On Sunday we had my parents over for a Fathers day brunch. Everything turned out perfectly and everyone enjoyed it. It was my first time cooking for a big group so I was slightly nervous. I am glad it all turned out! I am just disappointed that I didn't take any pictures! Oh well, there will be a next time so I will take pictures then.

This week I have been busy getting ready for a good friend of mines wedding shower. She is getting married two weeks after me and I am in her wedding. I am excited. She has not been a bridezilla at all!! We are going tomorrow to try on the bridesmaids dresses that came in. I can't wait to see how they look when they are actually in our sizes.
I took my dress in for alterations yesterday and it looks like its going to cost me close to $300 for alterations. Its a bit steep but I know she is good and she knows what she is doing so I can't be too worried!!

Well I should get back to work. I have a few things to finish before I leave for the day and I have a busy evening ahead of me. Its Jackson's last obedience class. Lets cross our fingers and hope he does good tonight!!

Just Rambling

So today I have a ton of things on my mind and I am very frustrated. All I have felt like doing today is crying. First I had a bad encounter with my boss. I'm not going to get into it because in the grand scheme of things its not really important. Then I talked to my mom. To give you some history that will explain this I need to first tell you that in the last 5 months we have noticed a change in my dad. He hasn't been himself. He has been "out of it" when you talk to him. He has been sleeping a ton. Not interested in anything. It has been super hard on my mom and she has been telling me all about it. I am extremely worried about my dad. I thought it might have been a stroke but the doctor says no. Our doctor has been sending him for all sorts of tests and things but nothing has been found. I know that something has happened. My mom mentioned today that she thinks it might be Alzheimer's. That thought had crossed my mind too but I didn't want to admit it.
I told my mom that she needs to make an appt with our family doctor and tell him her concerns. I think sometimes this guy just brushes people off. My mom needs to talk to someone in order to deal with my dad properly. She is getting mean towards him and its hard for me to hear. She isn't nice when she talks to him because she gets so frustrated. I hate it. I really hope that she goes to the doctor and really pushes for him to do something for my dad. If not, then I will be going in there and telling out doctor to get off his lazy ass and figure some things out. I hate that doctors in Calgary are so overworked that they just rush people through and things get missed or misdiagnosed. You can't do that with people's lives.
It helps me to write in here so I can get it off my chest but I know this isn't exactly positive. Its just been really hard to stay positive lately.

Also I have decided that I really need to look for a new job. I just can't shake this "life sucks" attitude when I am supposed to be so happy over so many things.
Seriously sometimes I just want to scream really loud but unfortunately I am at work and am unable to do that.

Got too busy last week

Sorry, I know last time I posted I said I would be back tomorrow but that just didn't happen! I had a busy week last week and didn't get a chance to post. I was even busy during the day at work. And if know me IRL then you know I am not usually busy for a full day at work!! Yes, I need to get a new job!!

Right now, I am not happy in my job. I am not treated very well by the people I work with. It is a very hard and stressful thing to deal with when you don't enjoy your job. Its hard to get up in the mornings. So I have talked to my fiance about this and I am going to do some career testing and then try to find a new job! So far every test I have taken is telling me I should be doing anything besides what I am doing now! No wonder, I am unhappy!!!

The one thing that is hard right now is being in a recession. Its not really the time to quit your job and move to another one. I am working in the Oil industry right now and it has been hit pretty hard. I think almost everyday we hear of another company that has been laying off people. So far this company has done it three times and I have made it through each one. I think that part of that was cuz I secretly hoped I would be laid off. I think someone is watching over me cuz I haven't lost my job yet. So I keep forcing myself out of bed and coming to work! We do have a house and wedding to pay for in the near future! And I really cannot complain about the money I make at this job! This company does pay extremely well!

This past weekend my fiance and I went out to my parents cabin. We were out there with my parents and their two dogs and our 6 month old puppy! Our puppy Jackson is way too playful for my parents dogs who are both 13 years old. Its funny but sometimes my parents dogs get a bit scared!! We had a good time out there this weekend and managed to avoid the snow that Calgary apparently got! We didn't have great weather but it was sunny and no rain or snow. This week Calgary is getting nicer weather. And this weekend when I can't go to the lake its supposed to be 27 degrees on Saturday! Looks like Jackson and I will have to go to the dog park so he can take a dip in the river!

Other things that are happening are that we are getting my car ready to either give back to the dealership or have someone take over my lease. We have taken it in to get the brakes done which was expensive. $500 later we got my car back! Tuesday wasn't as bad, it only cost $50 to get the illegal tint taken off my windows. Yes I was the one who got it put on!! It looked really cool though! Today my car is in to get an estimate on damage to my front and back bumper. I know how the damage to my front bumper happened, I bumped someone when coming up to a stop sign. But the back bumper damage I just noticed when I washed my car last week. So annoying. its a shame when people do hit and runs. Oh well, not much I can do about it since the car has to be taken back in good condition! Plus with KARMA, I would not sell/transfer/give a car to someone that hadn't been fixed. I just couldn't do it!

Tonight FH(future husband) and I are going to be going through stuff in our basement and deciding what we can sell on kijiji. We moved a bunch of stuff from our condo into our house that we don't need so we may as well make some money back on it all! We also have to make a list of things that are wrong with our house so we can have our three month walk through! I can't believe we have been living in our house for 3 months. I sure don't miss that condo at all!! It was way too small for the two of us and it didn't allow me to have a dog.

This weekend I am going to be cleaning for my future in laws to come visit on the the 19th and organizing our basement and our pantry. These last two are things that have needed to be done for a long time but I just haven't gotten around to it. FH is going golfing this weekend so I will have lots of time to get these done but I am also going to make sure I take some time for myself and get out to enjoy the sunshine!!!

Well gotta get back to work! Hope everyone enjoys their day!

June already???

Wow, May sure flew by!! It has just recently started feeling like spring in my city so I am shocked that I had to change my calendar at work to another month. I hope we get a lot of nice weather and only a little bit of rain this month. Usually June in Calgary is really rainy. I am not a fan of the rain so I am hoping for only a little bit. I know we will have to get some rain but I thinking that it could come at night while we are sleeping and if it has to come during the day, it should come on a work day! That way on the weekends we can all get out and enjoy the beautiful weather!

So how is everyone enjoying Monday? My Monday is going by quite quickly and I am enjoying it. The forecast was originally calling for rain all day today but it has changed and now its supposed to be 15 and sunny! It looks nice outside now. Plus 15 isn't that warm though, especially after this weekend. We had absolutely gorgeous weather this weekend. It was perfect because friends of ours got married this weekend. Their wedding was beautiful. My fiance was in the wedding party and normally I do not like going to wedding where I have to sit alone but this one wasn't bad since the grooms sister was nice enough to talk to me while my fiance was off doing wedding stuff!

Speaking of wedding stuff, I was making a list of things I need to do for our wedding. There sure is a lot of stuff to do but its mostly little things so its OK. I did make a list though and I am going to post my list on here. If you have any cool suggestions for things to do at weddings please leave your ideas in the comments!!!

My wedding list:

1. Get music for the Ipod - instead of paying for a DJ we are going to bring our ipod and use the restaurants speakers!

2. Contact wedding coordinator about my flowers - I have to send her pics of the fake bridesmaids bouquets I had made so she can match mine to their using real flowers. Our venue charges alot for flowers so that is why I went with fake ones for the bridesmaids

3. Look for different ceremony wording - the wedding we just went to had different ceremony wording to make their wedding different from everyone elses. I would like to look into this and see if I can find something that suits mine and FH's relationship.

4. Find hair inspiration pics

5. Make timeline for wedding party and family.

6. Plan meet and greet dinner - we aren't doing a rehearsal since we are having a destination wedding. So I thought it would be a good idea for our guests to all get together for dinner, if they want, the night before.....now we just have to figure out where to have it!!

7. Make table numbers and seating plan

8. Make guest book on shutterfly

9. Pick a tux rental place

10. Find jewelry for bride and bridesmaids

11. Purchase wedding bands

12. Book engagement pics

13. Make card box

14. Checklist for what is needed for marriage licence

15. Make sure passports are current

16. Pick ceremony music

17. Make a list of "must take" photos for ceremony photographer and wedding party photographer

18. Book limo

19. Finish Bridesmaid gifts

20. Pick Groomsmen gifts

wow, 20 things. I didn't think it was that long!! Oh well, now I have it written down somewhere so I will check back and cross things off as they get done! I will probably have to add things to it as well.

So what did everyone do for the weekend? Was there anything exciting happening in your city? We had a street festival on here on Sunday so we decided to go down and check that out. It was incredibly busy though so we didn't stay long. I am not a huge fan of crowds.

I should get going and go back to work! Be back tomorrow!
